Steve is a nationally recognized
expert in construction disputes and
claims. He has 30+ years experi-
ence as a contractor’s engineer and
superintendent, designer’s engineer and project manager, and a highly respected consultant to all parties.
He is the author of the premier
industry reference book, “HOW
TO GET PAID for Construction Changes”, McGraw-Hill, 1998,
and an expert in mediation, arbitra-
tion and litigation.

Avoiding, Resolving and Winning Disputes
Our most important asset is our focus on first avoiding disputes, second
resolving those that do occur, and third winning in mediation, arbitration
or litigation.

Better Project Management, Recordkeeping and Teambuilding
In addition to teaching project management skills and establishing im-
proved procedures, we help our clients set up recordkeeping and control
systems. This will ensure timely notice of change and adequate records
to substantiate a request for more time or money. We use teambuilding
and partnering techniques to ensure a focus on results and help resolve
disputes before they lead to animosity and claims.

Independent Evaluation of Claims
Our independent evaluation of contractor change orders and claims will
determine whether they are valid, and if they can be substantiated or
refuted. Contractors will avoid wasting time and money on a weak claim.
Project owners can reject unwarranted claims with less risk of losing in
arbitration or litigation.

Assistance with Change Order Negotiation
We are skilled estimators and schedulers who can determine the facts and
present our findings in a convincing manner. We understand construction
contracts and practices and have the written, graphical, and verbal skills
to communicate the facts and our findings.

Mediation, Neutral Expert and Arbitration Panel Service
Steve Pinnell is an American Arbitration Association panel member, has
taught arbitration procedures, and frequently serves as an arbitrator. He
is experienced in a wide range of disputes, ranging from $40,000 resi-
dential remodels to $100+ million industrial, civil works, and building
construction projects. He and Greg Mockford, a licensed architect and
ex-contractor, are also experienced mediators, partnering facilitators and
neutral experts.

Expert Witness In Mediation, Arbitration or Litigation
Much of our dispute resolution work is as analysts and expert witnesses
working for attorneys. This includes drafting deposition questions and
discovery requests, reviewing discovery documents, analysis, preparing
exhibits, assisting in negotiation or mediation, and testifying in arbitra-
tion or litigation.
